A family history. A fresh perspective.
Our story brings together a long-established Gloucestershire family business and a very personal approach to interiors. The kitchens and bathrooms we design at Obsidian are part of George Bence & Sons, whose roots in Cheltenham reach back to 1854.
The Obsidian Cheltenham showroom opened in 2001, creating a place to explore kitchens and bathrooms within the Bence family business. Today, our main Cheltenham showroom and smaller Bourton-on-the-Water showroom connect that local heritage with ideas for the way we live now.
THE CHELTENHAM SHOWROOM
A new chapter on Fairview Road.
In January 2025, our flagship Cheltenham showroom reopened following a £500,000 refurbishment. The launch brought together the local business community, with ribbon-cutting ceremonies by Cheltenham mayor Cllr Paul Baker and interiors presenter Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. It marked a renewed investment in the place where our customers meet the team and explore their homes’ possibilities.

Kitchens and bathrooms remain at the heart of Obsidian Interiors. Our full-home interior design service considers how these rooms sit alongside the spaces around them, with our design team helping you shape the brief. Obsidian Home is our sister business for home accessories: a complementary place to discover finishing pieces, with its own retail identity.
