Interior Trends for 2021

Next year is going to be full of sustainability, mindfulness and inclusivity. The design field is going to be full of mega design trends.

Neutrals

Ideal for creating and designing more intimate and welcoming environments. They don’t have to be boring either. There is plenty of room for POPS OF COLOUR. But lots of good reasons to stick with a neutral colour scheme for your interior design. Its calming and having neutral backgrounds allow you to bring out some pretty bold elements in your design/room. Neutrals also welcome warm mixed textures such as wood, brushed velvets, rough-hewn and you can also layer these textures. It will always be classic.

Industrial interior style

Styling for muti-purpose environments. Using raw, unfinished and almost factory like sensibility, an industrial interior style showcases utilitarian materials such as wood, metal, and cement in a way that proves that form and function can be one and the same. Exposed bricks, metal piping, ceiling beams, stripped floors, visible ducting, and even ship bulkheads are just a few examples. The beauty of this design is that it looks masculine but poignant, fuss free but thoughtful. Just some recent projects I have used wooden tables with metal chairs, distressed kitchen worktops, light fixtures.

Colour trends

We are going to see more darker blues rather than blacks. It will be the new black and can see this continuing into 2022 too. It going to be used as features or strong individual pieces of furniture. It will create elegant and contemporary spaces. Black is still going to be strong and will be used more as features such as crittal doors and windows, kitchen units, accessories. Greens and elderberry tones are coming through and mixing these colour pallets together. The general idea with these is to also use them as contrasts in either kitchen units, bathroom tiles, bedroom headboards, fixtures, fittings, and decorative items.

Natural elements

We are going to see lots of different textures of lights woods used in either kitchen cabinets, wall panelling, and even room dividers. Veneers are also increasing in popularity. Lots of natural elements are making a comeback. Wicker baskets and natural raw materials we are seeing more and more in bathroom and kitchen interiors. Plants and living walls are now becoming features throughout the whole home. A décor trend based in bringing nature into our homes. Strengthens that human connection. Which I feel is becoming even more popular since lockdown as it is making us apricate our home and environment more.

Statement Pieces

This is becoming more popular and making the room even more sophisticated and individual to the customers home.  Pieces of art or ornaments as being used centre features. We are seeing this through all the rooms in homes even bathrooms.

Accessories

Luxury minimal design spaces through to creative fulfilled rooms. Turning to materials, furniture, plants, accessories with luxury individual touches, not to mention handcrafted items which are being made from purer materials.

Modern Rustic

A complete blend of old and new. Promoting comfort modern interior with a mix of classical. This can be either individual old design pieces past through the family or original features in the property.  introducing the older rustic accessories in such items like suspended lighting, paintings, ornaments, handles, doors and windows. It also adds that extra texture to a new room.
